September Reading Challenge

I'm taking on a Reading Challenge in September for Teenage Cancer Trust

This September, I'm taking on my own reading challenge and raising funds to help ensure no young person faces cancer alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Teenage Cancer Trust, the only UK charity who provides specialised nursing care and support for young people with cancer. I'd be grateful for your support.

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £25 could pay for an hour with a Youth Support Coordinator to help a young person cope with anxiety and isolation during cancer treatment.

Thank you!

Tuesday 15th Sep
I’m retrospectively making a post for yesterday; such a long day. I didn’t get to read much, even though I’m itching to finish Yesteryear! 15 minutes and 15 pages.

Day Thirteen Update

Sunday 13th Sep
I had such a fun today in Nottingham with Katarina today. Such a cool city with amazing indie shops. I bought some new earrings and my Christmas list has some new additions. I loveeee Yesteryear so far. I can’t wait to see what happens. At this rate, I’ll be rereading as soon as I finish, I feel like there’s so many easter eggs that I’ve missed. Only 64 pages to go, hopefully I finish it tomorrow!

Day Twelve Update

Saturday 12th Sep
This very long week has taught me so much empathy for people in hospitals and their friends and families around them. My mama looking unwell, in pain, in a hospital bed, and me being powerless to do anything; I can’t imagine what it’d be like to have a child with cancer. I’m so glad that I’m raising money for such a worthy cause.

Day Eleven Update

Friday 11th Sep
It’s been another longggg day, closing out on an even longer working week. I’m really enjoying Yesteryear so far. I’m excited to see where the story goes next. 80 pages in 80 minutes.

Day Ten Update

Thursday 10th Sep
Today was a long day, sat at the hospital with my mum undergoing surgery. I’m grateful that all has gone smoothly so far, and hopefully all will continue to. I’m exhausted and really didn’t want to read today, but I’m committed to this challenge and hate losing a streak. We surpassed the £350 goal! So I’ve upped it to £400! 30 minutes of reading Yesteryear and I’m another 30 pages in. I’m really enjoying it, and I’m looking forward to seeing where it goes.

Day Nine Update

Thursday 10th Sep

Day Six Update

Sunday 6th Sep
I finally finished The Thirty Before Thirty List! It only took me 2.5 months 🫪. I actually really enjoyed it, despite the fact that it took me ages to finish. I will say that the book felt long, and I’m put off reading the author’s author book because of it. 4/5 stars.

Day Three Update

Thursday 3rd Sep
Ummmm soooooo I raised the target to £200 and we surpassed it!?!? So I’ve raised it again to £250. Absolutely insane! Thank you to everyone who’s donated, your support really means a lot. I hope you follow along to see my progress. Today wasn’t much, 30 minutes and 31 pages, but I plan to read quite a bit more over the weekend. Thank you to my mama for pestering family to donate 🩷

Day Two Update

Wednesday 2nd Sep
OMG WE NOT ONLY REACHED THE GOAL BUT SURPASSED IT AGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! Thank you to my amazing mama for sharing this with her family and friends 🫶, I’m forever grateful for your unconditional love and support. A special thank you to everyone who’s donated! Especially the anonymous donors, your support means a lot ☺️. For today’s update, I only managed to read for 30 minutes, and made it through 31 pages of my new library book Yesteryear by Caro Claire Burke (please ignore the fact that this isn’t part of the official goal …).

Day One Update

Tuesday 1st Sep
63 pages read! 55 minutes read! £15 raised!

Setting the Goal

Tuesday 1st Sep

My Goal!

I’ll be reading every day (hopefully) with the goal of finishing at least these two books:

  • The Thirty Before Thirty List (which I started in June 😔)
  • Better Than Revenge (the Book Club’s September pick)

Any other books will be a bonus!

I also won’t be buying any new books; any that I don’t already own will be borrowed from the library.

Beginning the Challenge

Friday 28th Aug
I’ve decided to commit to this challenge because I love reading, but I haven’t done it in a while, and I think it’d be a great way to get back into it. Especially because I’d also be raising money for a great cause!

Thank you to everyone in advance who donates!
