September Reading Challenge

I'm taking on a Reading Challenge in September for Teenage Cancer Trust

This September, I'm taking on my own reading challenge and raising funds to help ensure no young person faces cancer alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Teenage Cancer Trust, the only UK charity who provides specialised nursing care and support for young people with cancer. I'd be grateful for your support.

This cause is close to my heart, having known young people who fought cancer, and having had cancer touch my closest family members. This disease is horrible, vicious and indiscriminate, and helping fund support for teenagers who are already going through so much, and then having to battle that as well, is worth it.

I want to raise £250 for the Teenage Cancer Trust during this reading challenge, and hope to achieve this by reading 15 books during the month of September

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £25 could pay for an hour with a Youth Support Coordinator to help a young person cope with anxiety and isolation during cancer treatment.

Thank you!

Sunday 13th Sep
@imogenlsmileyauthor

On 9th and 10th September 2026, I participated in a 24 hour readathon in order to raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust. During the readathon, I finished three books: 'The Exiled' by Sarah Daniels, 'The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle' by Stuart Turnton, and 'Boy Parts' by Eliza Clark. I also, also, also, made it to just under halfway through 'Out On A Limb' by Hannah Bonam-Young!!! It was a great run and I was very happy with what I managed to read. 24 Hour Reading Challenge: Day Two

Sunday 13th Sep
@imogenlsmileyauthor

On 9th & 10th September, in a bid to fundraise for the Teenage Cancer Trust, I did a 24 hour readathon. On 9th September, I ended up reading one and a half books in ten hours before being taken out by a migraine. On the 10th, powered by meds, I completed my 24 hours by reading from 6am to 8pm, finishing two books, bringing my total to three and reaching the halfway point of a fourth hook. By the end of the challenge, I had increased my numbers to 6/15 books read in September thus far!!! 7th September Check-In

Monday 7th Sep
Good morning! As I write this, it is 10:30 AM on 7th September 2026. I figured that now was as good a time as any to provide a check-in about how my reading challenge has progressed thus far.

I have officially read three books as part of the September Reading Challenge.

On 1st September 2026, I finished 'The Stranded' by Sarah Daniels. I began reading this book in the latter end of August. It is a YA dystopia set on a cruise ship that is floating just off the coast of the Federated States, after a global pandemic decimated Europe, and the people who are trying to eke out a living on board under the oppressive reigime of the Federated States.

On 4th September, I finished reading 'Styx: The River' by Nikita Gill as an audiobook via BookBeat. I loved it. This was a beautiful, poignant story of friendship, love and sacrifice. I loved how this book offered a deeper and emotional exploration to Styx's character, and it immediately made me want to reread 'Hekate', which is set after the events of 'Styx: The River'.

Towards the end of 6th September, I finished my third book, a graphic novel, that I originally read years ago on Webtoon, 'High Class Homos: Volume Two' by Momozerii. This published version of her story had extended the original story further, and allowed readers further glimpses into the characters and their dynamics. I absolutely love this series and am so proud of Momozerii for managing to get it published, as it was always one of my favourite Webtoons. I cannot wait for the next volume to come out!

As of right now, I have read three out of fifteen books. I hope to continue at this rate and successfully complete my reading challenge.

I Have Finished My Second Book Of Fifteen!

On 4th September, I finished my second of 15 books for the September Reading Challenge for the Teenage Cancer Trust. It just so happened to ve Styx: The River by Nikita Gill, a prequel to Hekate, which came out last year. Understanding the plight Styx was in, despite her love for her best friend, was tumultuous and sad! I loved this book! I cannot wait for the next of Gill's Goddesses of The Underworld book! #audiobook #bookbeat #audiobooksarereading #styxtheriver #mythologyretellings

About Me

Sunday 9th Aug
Hello! My name is Imogen, I am a 28 year old writer from Essex. My family, like countless others, are not strangers to cancer and its indiscriminate wrath. I am participating in this reading challenge to support those living with cancer. I cannot imagine what they're going through, and if my striving to read X amount of books during September is enough to help, then I will do just that!
