September Reading Challenge

Ciara's September Reading Challenge for Teenage Cancer Trust.

Each year, there are 2409 new cases of cancer in young people (Cancer Research UK, 2022). That's why I'll be reading 2409 pages this September as part of Teenage Cancer Trust's Reading Challenge!

I'm raising funds to help ensure no young person faces cancer alone. Teenage Cancer Trust is the only UK charity that provides specialised nursing care and support for young people with cancer.

Your donation - big or small - makes a massive difference. I'm incredibly grateful for your support!

Emotional Support: Healing Beyond Treatment :- Talking openly with trusted family members, friends, or a counselor can make a significant difference to a cancer patient's mental well-being. Sharing fears, emotions, and concerns often reduces stress, eases feelings of loneliness, and helps patients feel supported. While staying hopeful can improve coping and quality of life, it's also important to remember that it's okay to feel scared, sad, or overwhelmed. Seeking emotional support and expressing feelings are healthy parts of the healing journey.

Exercise: A Powerful Partner in Cancer Recovery Exercise is one of the best "medicines." Even light activities like walking for 20–30 minutes a day can reduce fatigue, improve mood, maintain muscle strength, and help with recovery. Many cancer specialists now recommend exercise during treatment when it's medically appropriate.
