The Christmas Dip Challenge

I'm taking part in the Christmas Dip Challenge for Teenage Cancer Trust

This December, I'm doing cold water dips and raising funds to help ensure no young person faces cancer alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Teenage Cancer Trust, the only UK charity who provides specialised nursing care and support for young people with cancer. I'd be grateful for your support.

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £25 could pay for an hour with a Youth Support Coordinator to help a young person cope with anxiety and isolation during cancer treatment.

Thank you!

My Updates

Part Three

Saturday 20th Dec
It is done.

Was joined by my dad today to complete the challenge. He only did a lap so I made up for it by doing three, including one in a bikini as a result of a promise by a supporter. Thanks so much to everyone who has sponsored me so far. It’s been difficult getting into that water every Saturday but so rewarding!

Part Two

Saturday 13th Dec
Two-thirds of the way through the challenge now! 6.9° this week so the temperature is dropping but it feels quite rewarding when you finally warm up! Cheers to everyone who’s supported me so far, anything is hugely appreciated for a great cause!

Part One

Saturday 6th Dec
Two laps down, four to go! Water temperature was a cool 7°C. But we’re off the mark and that’s the most important thing. Thank you to everyone who has supported me so far; we go again next week!

My Challenge

Monday 1st Dec
Hello folks,

So, this December, I’m taking on the Christmas Dip Challenge for the Teenage Cancer Trust to give something back to a great cause that was my employer Newsquest’s charity of the year for 2025.

I’m an aspiring triathlete, so as part of the challenge, I want to complete six laps of the swim course where I will be doing the ‘dips’. The six represents the number of newspapers I write for regularly, just to add a bit of an extra challenge to the fundraiser and to hopefully encourage you to put your hands in your pockets.

I know Christmas can be a difficult time of year money-wise for a lot of people, especially with constant reports about increased cost of living, but anything you can give would be massively appreciated. Thank you ever so much.

The challenge starts this Saturday (6th December) at Hatfield Lake in Doncaster!

Thank you to my Sponsors
