Walk 60 miles with your dog in September

I'm walking 60 miles with my dog in September for Teenage Cancer Trust

This September, I'm walking 60 Miles with my dog and raising funds to help ensure no young person faces cancer alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Teenage Cancer Trust, the only UK charity who provides specialised nursing care and support for young people with cancer. I'd be grateful for your support.

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £25 could pay for an hour with a Youth Support Coordinator to help a young person cope with anxiety and isolation during cancer treatment.

Thank you!

60 Miles, 4 Paws, and a Whole Lot of Purpose: Walking for Teenage Cancer with Lily & Suki

Thursday 21st Aug
This September, I’m lacing up my trainers, grabbing the leash, and setting off on a 60-mile journey to support teenage cancer research and care. It’s not just a walk — it’s a mission. And I won’t be doing it alone.

Joining me is Lily, my soulful cocker spaniel with a nose for adventure and a heart as big as her ears. She’s been my companion through recovery from my recent carpal tunnel surgery, my work which requires lots of sitting, thinking and writing, and our countless midday and early evening walks. Now, she’s stepping up (literally) to help raise awareness and funds for teens facing one of life’s toughest battles.

And while Suki, our Bengal kitten, won’t be padding alongside us (she’s more of a “watch the world from the windowsill” kind of activist), she’s fully committed to the cause in her own feline way. Expect regular updates from her perch — probably involving dramatic tail flicks, motivational meows, and the occasional sabotage of my gear.

Why This Walk Matters

Teenage cancer is often overlooked — caught between pediatric and adult care systems, teens can face unique challenges in diagnosis, treatment, and emotional support. This walk is about visibility, solidarity, and action. Every mile is a message: you are seen, you are supported, and you are not alone.

Training Tales & Paw-sitive Vibes

Training has been a mix of muddy trails, impromptu squirrel chases (thanks, Lily), and strategic snack stops. Lily’s stamina is impressive — though she insists on sniffing every third blade of grass. I’ve learned to embrace the pauses; they remind me that this walk isn’t a race. It’s a rhythm. A commitment. A celebration of resilience.

Suki’s contribution? She’s been helping me stretch — by leaping onto my yoga mat mid-pose and offering unsolicited claw-based adjustments. She’s also taken a keen interest in my walking playlist, which now includes several tracks she’s “selected” by walking across my phone.

How You Can Support

We’re walking 60 miles, but the impact can stretch far beyond. If you’d like to support teenage cancer research and care, consider donating, sharing this post, or simply cheering us on. Every pawprint counts.

Follow our journey — expect muddy paws, heartfelt reflections, and maybe a few surprise cameos from Suki’s dramatic flair. We walk with purpose, with love, and with the belief that every step can spark change.

Let’s make these miles matter.
